SS18 Lightweight Summer Essentials

It’s peak summer in Minnesota right now, which means it’s pretty H.O.T. Here are a few of our favorite lightweight looks from our SS18 Core Collection. We chose the lightest, breathable fabrics that are guaranteed to keep you cool, comfortable, and elegant all at the same time. Yes, it’s possible!

A Quick Guide to Perfect Lightweight Fabrics:

Ivory Cotton: This 100% cotton fabric has a gauze-like texture and weight which makes it both soft to the touch and breathable. Also available in black, but the ivory screams summer to us 🙂
Poppy: Made of 100% Rayon from Bamboo, this fabric is extremely light and has a beautiful drape as a result. The color is vibrant enough where you don’t have to worry about layering over another slip, cami, etc. if that’s what you’re typically comfortable with.
Gray Linen: Linen is highly absorbent, so will feel cool to the touch and super breathable!

We have a couple of tie-back styles available online including our Tie-Back Tank, and our brand new HDH Basics: Tie-Top. You can really make this style work in a plethora of ways whether it means wearing the tie in the front versus the back, or layering the tie-top over another dress for example. While we love how these pieces look on their own sans bra, we also had some fun pairing them with a couple of our HDH Intimates styles. Our Skinny Knot Bralette has a more traditional back with a clasp closure and delicate straps. Our Straightaway Bralette has more coverage, and acts more like a bandeau. So excited about these beautiful photos taken by our friend, Emilie Szabo, in Copenhagen! They perfectly capture the summery and easy-going vibes of our Ivory Cotton Gauze, and highlight the subtle texture in the fabric. Our cotton gauzes are super soft to the touch, and don’t wrinkle much, which makes them great for packing and traveling. Unlike our Black Cotton Gauze that will continue to be available through the fall, our Ivory Cotton Gauze will be retiring, so be sure to order your HDH pieces in Ivory Cotton before it’s too late! Take a closer look at the 3 pant styles released as part of our SS18 Core Collection!

The Easy Wide Leg Pant’s relaxed fit, flowy wide-leg, and elastic waistband make these the most comfy, lightweight pants for spring and summer. The Easy Wide Pant is also available in Plus sizes!

The Raw Finish Wide-Leg Trouser is our more structured wide-leg pant with a button clasp, pockets, and a raw hem finish. These high-rise pants also have pleats that make them slightly more formal, but we also love the look of these pants with a cool, casual tucked-in graphic tee.

The Easy Raw Finish Skinny Pant is our more fitted pant from the collection, with an elastic waist, front pockets, and a raw finish hem. We love the subtle flare at the bottom hem that adds a little personality to a simple, everyday pant.

Packing for a Beach Vacation with HDH.

Our founder and designer, Lisa, traveled to Tulum, Mexico a few weeks ago, and although she forgot to take the rest of the HDH Team, she came back with some amazing photos with fun ways to wear HDH Swim! One of our favorite looks Lisa created was wearing the Painter Maxi Dress unbuttoned as a long, but lightweight beach coverup, and then transforming it into a dress to wear out at night with the included sash. Versatile pieces that can be worn multiple ways on various occasions such as the Painter Maxi Dress are key on vacations, because it ultimately means less packing and less time spent planning your outfits!

We create HDH pieces to fit a range of diverse body types because everyone deserves to feel comfortable and confident in what they wear. Similar to our other collections, HDH Plus pieces are made in our Minnesota studio with care and precision by our talented seamstresses. Our model in the photos above wears a +1 or +1/2 in this collection, but is also wearing a couple of pieces in a M/L. Many pieces from SS18 are generous in size, and flexible in how they can be worn. On Wednesday, we posted some inspiration on the blog on how to mix and match pieces from our newest SS18 collection with pieces from our previous FW17 collection (that are now on sale!) This time, we’re playing around with styling SS18 pieces with HDH Basics pieces.
