2016 HDH x Brookes Boswell Sun Hat 2
Our second Makers Alongside collaboration with milliner Brookes Boswell arrives just in time for summer! We’re loving this wide-brim black straw hat to complete a daytime look. Above, we paired it with our Wynonna Tank in black denim, and our bright white Morrison Skirt (Available June 27) for a bold, graphic look.

Caroline Whittington Young, the Richmond-based maker behind giantLION jewelry, got her start as a ceramics artist but in college discovered her love for jewelry making. She founded her business shortly after graduating, making the pieces out of her home studio. Since then, giantLION has relocated to their own studio space, and has gone from selling on Etsy to having their own site, which you can find here

“My biggest inspiration continues to be people, memories, and various things I have collected over the years- objects that hold special meaning to me,” Caroline says, which is certainly evident in her timeless, elegant designs. We also love the fact that she uses the highest quality materials like raw stone, sterling silver, and 10k and 14k gold in her pieces.

We are so excited about our charming mismatched earring set Caroline made for our Makers Alongside series, available through our website. Make sure to also follow giantLION on Instagram

Kate Jennings is one of those people you immediately want to spend more time with when you meet her. She is a kindred spirit, and we could not be more thrilled that she joined us again for Makers Alongside. Her custom fragrances are incredible, and we are honored to be the exclusive sellers of Prairie Fire.

Kate started a vintage clothing line in 2009, Na Nin Vintage. Na Nin means “I am” in Korean, and Kate came up with her brand name after her trip to South Korea. Kate began blending essential oils in 2013, has been selling fragrances since January 2014, and began selling candles in 2015. “My fragrances are inspired by a feeling or vision you have when listening to a certain song,” Kate says, and she means it. When Kate sent the first samples for Prairie Fire to us, she included a playlist for us to listen to while we smelled all our options. Her process is informed by music, travel, her friends and family, and random acts of kindness – like the sweet emails of encouragement she is always sending our way.

You can find Kate on Instagram @shopnanin and on Pinterest @katejennings, and if you happen to find yourself in Richmond, VA you can visit her at one of her two brick-and-mortar shops.  Shop her fragrances and more online at http://shopnanin.com/

Rebekka Seale founded Camellia Fiber Co. two years ago this month!  She started as an online yarn shop she hoped would supplement her income from illustrations, but it has grown into a beautiful studio and shop filled with hand-dyed yarn that sells almost as fast as she can make it.

“I’ve been fooling around with spinning and knitting since high school and college, respectively. I was a studio art major in college and my interests were mostly based around different aspects of color theory. Three years ago, I began experimenting with different dye techniques, and discovered all the wonderful possibilities that come from various combinations of color and fiber. It felt like a revelation!”  We’re certainly glad she’s had this revelations.  Her yarns, all organic, are stunning experiments in natural colors and fibers.  Rebekka is inspired by the textures and landscapes of the gulf coast of Alabama, where she grew up. She’s also inspired by the tight-knit group of makers in Nashville, including her studio mates who are the owners of Sonadora and Golden Apothecary.
