New Today: Limited Edition Sruthi Dress

New Today: Limited Edition Sruthi Dress

Brand new today to the site is the Sruthi Dress, a shorter-length reversible wrap dress with a bell sleeve! This teal beauty comes in just one size, but can be adjusted with the included tie around the waist. Only 5 were made, so order yours today! P.S. We’ve been naming our most recent Limited Edition pieces after some of our favorite podcasters, since the HDH team spends a good chunk of time in the studio listening to podcasts while working! The Sruthi Dress is named after Sruthi Pinnamaneni, a producer and reporter for Gimlet Media’s “Reply All”, an exciting, and sometimes terrifying, podcast about the internet. Binge listen here!

Happy Labor Day from HDH!

Happy Labor Day from HDH!

Happy Labor Day from HDH! Today we thought it would be appropriate to highlight the folks who help HDH run smoothly–everyone from our in-studio team, to one of our main fabric suppliers that share our value towards sustainable and ethical fashion.

Our small, but efficient team of nine meets every week to get orders made, sewn, reviewed, and shipped out in our St. Paul, Minnesota studio. (Meet the whole gang here!) While our seamstresses stay busy at the machines and cutting tables, our founder and Director of Operations complete tasks ranging from interacting with wholesalers to finding quality fabrics that are sourced in a responsible and environmentally-friendly manner.  We source fabrics from companies like Kendor Textiles, a fabric supplier that values functional, yet sustainable textiles. We love this video of Paul King, the President of Kendor Textiles, discussing the cost of sustainability, along with the importance of traceability and consumer awareness of a garment. Here at HDH, we want you to know exactly where your HDH piece came from, and the thoughtfulness to sustainability and attention to detail put into it. Watch the video here

Labor Day Bonus: Receive free standard shipping on all orders (including international orders) throughout all of Labor Day Weekend with coupon code: Labor17.

New Ira Wrap Top!

Miscellaneous

Today we’re releasing the Ira Wrap Top, another versatile addition to your closet that can be worn in multiple ways! Wear with the V-neck in front and crew neck in back, or vice versa. The white cotton chevron is a great staple for everyday wear, while the red is a super fun and refreshing pop of color 🙂 Wear with our Raw Finish Wide-Leg Trouser for a more casual look, or our Tapered Trouser for a more polished look. We found these great purple Maryam Nassir Zadeh shoes from Shop Mille, another local Minneapolis boutique that carries beautiful and thoughtfully-made clothing and accessories, made by women around the world. Inspiration behind FW17

Our Core Collection designs are the pieces that we believe should be available all season long, unlike our Limited Edition pieces that run out after a limited quantity are made.

This is our third Core Collection release so far, and our Fall/Winter 2017 Collection is no different in that each piece is specific to this season, which is reflected in the warm color hues and fabrics of varying weights for these transitional months into fall and winter.

I originally designed the FW17 Collection with the idea that each of these pieces can flawlessly fit into your own closet and can pair with anything you already own, ranging from a patterned button-down to your favorite pair of comfy jeans.  We value our customers for their diverse styles and talents and believe that every piece can cater to every woman–that it doesn’t require purchasing the entire collection to achieve any one, specific look.

Our FW17 pieces are the pieces that you will wear over and over again – and can – because each was sewn with great attention to detail and quality by one of our five seamstresses and was made to last. Choosing easily-washable fabrics also means less trips to the dry cleaners and more time doing what you love in clothing that makes you feel good.

For this post in particular, we created looks by pairing pieces from our new FW17 Collection with articles of clothing from the closets of our own team, such as Elsie’s striped button-down, Emma’s light-wash jean jacket, and my floral blouse. It was so fun to see how one piece could transform into a whole new look and personality with the touch of one simple accessory such as a neck scarf or tote bag, and how each piece can easily be dressed up or dressed down.

Timeless in both style and quality, we couldn’t be more excited about our FW17 Collection, and hope you too can find a staple piece or two for your own closet.

xx Lisa
